ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR THURSDAY 3/5/2020

HIGH SCHOOL ONLY

High School Lunch & Lyceum: During lunch and Lyceum the field and gym will be closed. Students have the option to eat in the cafeteria or the Ramada. High School students will proceed to their Regular Lyceum period.  High School students do not go to their 4th period classroom. 

SENIORS: Please update your Naviance account to show all admission decisions.  See Ms. Schmitt or Mrs. Ruby with questions.

JUNIORS: A few juniors still need to turn in their All About Me and Transcript Release Form.  Please submit this paperwork by March 20 to schedule an individual meeting with your College Counselor.  Please talk to Ms. Schmitt or Mrs. Ruby if you have questions.

High School Students: Mark your calendars for the Spring College Fair held at ASU Tempe Campus on Sunday, April 19.  Colleges from across the United States will be at this fair. Check the College Counseling website calendar for details and registration link.

9th-12th GRADE STUDENTS: Looking for summer opportunities.  Check out the College Corner next to Mrs. Ruby’s office for information about various summer programs, including those offered at colleges and universities.  Please do not remove materials from the College Corner, rather write down the important information to look up items online. MIDDLE SCHOOL ONLY

HIGH SCHOOL AND MIDDLE SCHOOL

Congratulations to the teams that competed during the AZ State I-Civics Tournament on Tuesday this week. A 7th grade team took 4th place. A 6th grade team took 1st place and won a set of 7th Generation I-Pads. Their trophies are on display outside Mr. Poppelton’s office near the front desk. Way to go Citizen Titans!

There will be no Spam Club this week. See you next quarter.

Final day to order yearbook online is 3/21.  The current cost is $70. Books may be available for purchase on a limited basis at distribution for $75.

Mural Club will not be meeting this Saturday due to Spring Break. The next Monday for painting Mr. Haley’s office will be March 23rd. The normal schedule resumes following break.

During lyceum tomorrow, Thursday, 3/5, some MS spring sports teams need to report to the forum for your spring yearbook photos.  If you have a uniform or t-shirt, you can bring it to wear over your school uniform, otherwise your regular uniform is fine.  Teams included will be – all levels of the following: MS basketball boys and girls; MS track; and MS swim.

9th, 10th & 11th Grade Students – If you want to learn more about applying to one of the United States Service Academies, David Martin (CPA Class of 2018), who is currently a cadet at West Point, will be on campus Tuesday, March 17 at 11:15am in the Library.  David will share information about the application process, admission requirements and life at the academy. Please sign up in the Forum and see Mrs. Ruby or Ms. Schmitt to get a gold pass for your teacher to sign. Bring the signed gold pass with you to the presentation on March 17.

Thursday Spirit Week. Titan House Day!

Students can wear THEIR Titan house colored socks, wristbands, hair bows, headbands, ties/bowties, that are in their Titan house colors. Uniform skirts/pants and shoes are required. Students may also choose to wear a Titan house colored t-shirt in lieu of the regular uniform shirt. You may also choose to add your house name to a t-shirt. The t-shirt must follow the rules listed below.

  • Small logos are allowed (small Nike, small Adidas, etc.)
  • The shirt cannot be form fitting
  • The shirt cannot be sleeveless
  • Shirts may only say positive phrases (No negative terms or bringing down other houses)
  • Acceptable phrases: Go (House Name)!, Graduation Year, House Name, House Cheer
  • Titan House Shirts purchased at the school store may also be worn today.
  • If your t-shirt does not fit these rules, then you will be asked to change into your regular uniform.

There are no capes, tutus, or hair accessories other than the ones listed above.

Students can come by room 205 after school today to buy a Titan House shirt for Thursday’s spirit day.  Shirts are $15.  Cash only.

SEVENTH GRADERS WILL HAVE THEIR DIORAMAS on display every day for the next seven days (except this Wednesday, being a half-day). You are encouraged to walk around the tables in the forum to admire their hard work and creativity, but please DO NOT TOUCH OR BUMP ANY OF THE DIORAMAS OR THE TABLES. Also, make sure you only make positive comments about any of the dioramas, just as you would want people to do if it was your work on display!

Spirit Week for Wednesday: Sneakers! Students may wear any athletic shoes in place of school shoes tomorrow. Shoes must be sneaker like or slip-ons (Vans/Sperry’s). Open toed shoes and slippers are not allowed, nor anything with a heel above the approved 1.5 inches (per the student handbook). Enjoy your half day in comfort.

SENIORS only: Today you should receive the edits from your advisor on the final draft of your Senior Thesis. You have one week to make your thesis as flawless as possible in its logic, content, format, and grammar. This is also the last week to meet with your advisor before your final three copies are due. Please refer to the Senior Thesis packet or email Ms. Somsen with questions.

The honored CPA student performances at this year’s State Solo & Ensemble Festival will be performing TODAY during Lyceum in the theater.  Take your Lyceum in the audience for something beautiful, exciting, and supportive of your classmates. All are welcome. No food or drink in the theater and please know that this performance is being recorded for a competition, so excellent behavior is a must.  Thank you.

All Students & Faculty: Senior Thesis Early Defenses begin today at 3:30. Please exit the building by that time and keep the hallways quiet. Defense schedules are posted in the forum, cafeteria, and hallway near Room 307. Attend a defense and demystify the Senior Thesis!

Spirit Week has begun! Trivia will be in the announcements starting today and winners in both middle school and high school will receive a free wristband to the titan triad. 

  • Tomorrow show off your titan pride with Titan Tuesday: Students can wear purchased spirit wear/athletic wear items with the titan logos and titan crests. Uniform track jackets, spirit wear/athletic wear shirts, socks, and wristbands are allowed. The students cannot wear sweatshirts or hoodies even with the CPA logo. Uniform skirts/pants/socks and shoes are required.

Due to work being done on the ramada, all HL breaks must be taken in front of the school, today. No exceptions.

Pianists, singers, strings and drums…. What do they all have in common?  They are the honored CPA student performances at this year’s State Solo & Ensemble Festival that we will perform for YOU on Monday during Lyceum in the theater.  Take your Lyceum this Monday to be in the audience for something beautiful, exciting, and supportive of your classmates. All are welcome.

Attention Key Club members, there are new and exciting opportunities on the bulletin board in the cafeteria.  Please sign up and keep looking for new events even if you cannot make it to the meetings on Mondays. We need volunteers for everything!!  If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Kendrick

A reminder to student drivers about parking on campus: You may not park in spots in front of the school or any spots blocked with stanchions/parking cones. Even if you are running late. There are 64 assigned spots on campus. Students are expected to park in their assigned spots. Students will place the parking card (a yellow card given to them when they got their parking assignment) in the part of the car that faces the driveway (i.e. if students back into spaces the card should be in the front window. If you pull-in to a spot, the card should be on the back window). This will allow for a quick check of parking in the correct spots. Students who were not assigned a spot are welcome to park in the unnumbered and uncovered parking spots near the gas station, parallel to Warner road, and in the unnumbered/uncovered spots across from the Archway playground. These spots are first come, first serve.

All Speech and Debate practice is cancelled after school for both High-School and Middle School. Morning practices will still run as usual. If you have any questions, see Mr. Natali.

  • Students -Please sign up on the Sign Up Genius link in the online newsletter and on the sign up board in the cafeteria to help w/ Triad!!  You can receive community service hours or house points!!
