Attention sophomores and juniors: Scholarships are available for St. John’s College summer study programs. Get a feel for college life by spending a week in college dorms on a beautiful campus. Study with college professors and meet high school students from around the country. Have fascinating seminars and bulk up your college application resume! There will be an informational meeting in the library during high school lyceum on Tuesday, November 5th. See Mr. Myers with any questions.

SENIORS ONLY: Tuesday is a Senior thesis deadline. Submit your two copies of your thesis statement to your HL teacher. One copy will be given to your advisor.  Your teacher will check the other copy for completion and may offer brief feedback. The format for the thesis statement along with a sample can be found in the Senior Thesis packet on our CPA webpage. 

Tomorrow, October 30, is PSAT testing day.  All 9th, 10th & 11th grade students will take the PSAT and seniors will work on their thesis and/or college applications.  Please remember the following important items on October 30:

·      It is an early release day (8:15am-12:30pm).  No lunch will be provided.

·      Arrive by 8:10am.

·      Enter/exit the building through the front doors/forum.

·      Testing room and seat assignments are posted in the forum.

·      9th, 10th & 11th graders – go directly to your assigned testing room when the first     

       bell rings.

·      Seniors go directly to the theater when the first bell rings.

·      All students must leave campus at 12:30pm.

·      All students check your email for more test day details.

HS Art Club resumes on, 11/2 as the first Saturday of the month from 1-4pm, then on Monday, 11/4 after school 3:45-5:30 to begin the Waterlilies on the Ramada. Monday art club is every other week. No Experience Necessary! I will coach you through the process of mural painting in a meaningful, simplistic way. Please arrive in clothes and shoes suitable for painting with acrylic. SENIORS – please notify your counselor immediately of the college applications you’ve submitted or are submitting by the early deadline dates (November 1st or 15th or December 1st).  Also update Naviance to accurately reflect what you are doing. If colleges are not listed on your “Colleges I’m Applying to” page in your Naviance account, or if the correct application date or application type are not showing in Naviance, your counselor will not know you are applying or what school reports must be submitted.  If you have questions or need help, please see your counselor.

Mentors-Reminder that if you normally meet with your mentee in the cafeteria you must find another room. 


All students interested in middle school baseball please come straight to the gym during lunch today for a quick meeting about this year’s baseball team.

UNLOCK CLUB will NOT meet tomorrow, Wednesday, due to PSAT testing in the cafeteria. We will meet next Wednesday, Nov. 6.


1st Period Tardy Policy: Students are expected to be present in their classrooms and ready to begin class work prior to the late bell. From the Family Handbook: “The school disapproves of the accumulation of unexcused late arrivals to school, irrespective of the circumstances. Persistent first-period tardiness is highly disruptive of instruction and undermines student morale. On the third occasion (fourth for Middle School) that a student has an unexcused first-period tardy in a quarter, a detention will be issued to the student by the first–period teacher. For each subsequent unexcused first period tardy in the quarter, another detention will be issued. When a student has received four detentions for tardiness in a quarter, then he or she may receive an in-school suspension for a duration determined by the administration.”

All CPA families are invited to attend Archway’s 10th Annual Medieval Faire on Saturday, November 2nd from 11 am to 2 pm on the CPA field. We are also seeking CPA Volunteers to help run booths or help with cleanup after the Faire. Volunteers will receive volunteer credit and will not need a wristband to participate when they volunteer for at least one hour. Sign up online:

The Drama Performance for today has changed:  New time is 5pm – 7pm It is time for the Junior Shakespeare plays! During school today for 5th and 6th hour and after school the 11th grade will be presenting two productions. If you are in the mood for a drama, come see Macbeth and if you would like to laugh until your sides hurt, come see Midsummer Night’s Dream. If you are attending the performance during the school day (not all grade levels are invited, please check with your teacher), be sure to go to class for attendance first, and then go to the theatre. If you are coming to the shows after school, they start at 5:00 pm with the doors opening at 4:30 p.m. Each show is about an hour in length. Hope to see you at the theatre!

The Tragedy of Macbeth is about a brave general named Macbeth who receives a prophecy from a trio of witches that one day he will become King. Consumed by ambition and spurred to action by his wife, Macbeth takes the throne for himself.

A Midsummer Night’s Dream portrays the events surrounding the marriage of Theseus, the Duke of Athens, to Hippolyta (the former queen of the Amazons). These include the adventures of four young Athenian lovers and a group of six amateur actors who are controlled and manipulated by the fairies who inhabit the forest.

Student ambassadors, the signup Notebook for evening events is at the front desk. Please look through it and sign up to greet at one event this quarter if you are able. We have plays going on 2 nights this week, for example. See Mrs. Stephens or Mrs. Goodwin if you have any questions and thank you for your service.

Attention CPA students, we are collecting items to put together birthday bags for kids who are in foster care.  There are two boxes – one in the cafeteria and one in the forum – each box has a list of objects that can be donated.  We need everything from toys, to cake mix, candles, blankets, etc. Let’s help and give these kids the best birthday we can as a CPA family.  Thank you for all your donations.  

All students going to the field during lyceum must exit and enter through the ramada only not through the forum doors!

Please note there has been a change in our dress code. Khaki walking shorts with white or solid-colored dark socks are a uniform option for students for the entire year.
