Attention students attending St. John’s Summer Academy 2019: There will be a mandatory meeting in the Library during high school lyceum on Thursday the 17th regarding applications and expectations. See Mr. Myers with questions. 

MENTORS: Remember to speak to your parents and then RSVP for the Mentor Awards and Dessert Night. This event is Monday, January 28, from 7:00 to 8:30 in the theater, cafeteria, and forum….more details are found in the Punchbowl evite you all received.

SENIORS: At least ten pages of your rough draft is due Tuesday, Jan.15th. Your rough draft should include an introduction with your thesis statement, multiple body paragraphs, properly cited textual evidence. The more effort you put into your rough draft, the more feedback your advisor can give you to improve your thesis, and the less work you’ll have for your final draft.

SENIORS – transcripts should be updated by Jan. 15.  When they are updated, they will be uploaded to Naviance and you’re updated GPA will show in Naviance as well.  Once transcripts are updated/uploaded, your counselor will send the required mid-year reports to colleges.  Please let your counselor know if you are no longer considering a school you initially applied to and update your Naviance account with all admission decisions.

Ultimate Frisbee Club will meet at 11am this Saturday at Hoops Park. Glory awaits!

The Select Recorder Ensemble begins again this semester!  An informational meeting will be held in room 213 at 7:45 AM this Wednesday (1/16).  All middle and high school students who have successfully completed recorder in 8th grade music class are welcome to come hear more about when and what we play.  See Mrs. Gottry with any questions.

Drama Club will be holding a short informative meeting on Monday afterschool at 3:30pm to discuss the play that we are putting on for the spring. Anyone and everyone that is interested in performing or doing tech work is welcome to come join us to learn more about the production. If you have any questions please contact Mr. Blanco or Mr. Metcalf. See you all Monday!

Detention is cancelled next Tuesday due to a staff meeting. Detention will run as normal starting next Thursday. Thank you for your cooperation. 

 Archery and Bowyery — Our first meeting of 2019 is scheduled for Thursday, January 17.  We will not meet on Tuesday.  

Titans! The plastic bag drive has been going well and as of Thursday evening we have collected over 500 plastic bags! Way to go! Starting next week we will be collecting plastic bags from the following houses

WE ARE WRAPPING UP OUR “BIRTHDAY BAGS” drive for homeless children living at the House of Refuge in Mesa.

A HUGE THANK YOU to everyone who has donated items!! At this point we only need three types of items to meet our goal:  large birthday gift bags (good for girls or boys), boxes of birthday candles, and disposable foil cake pans 9 x 13 size. We need 17 of each of these items to finish up the bags. If you can donate, please sign up on the Life Science window for one (or two) of these specific items. You can bring them any time next week to the box in the cafeteria and then check your name off the sign-up list to show you brought it in. Any questions, please see Evvie Atkins, 8th grade, or Mrs. Goodwin.

HS Orchestra members:  Remember, only percussionists and the violin/viola quartet are meeting this Friday morning at 7:15 AM for ensemble rehearsal.  Full orchestra will begin rehearsals again in two weeks on January 25th.  See Mrs. Gottry with any questions.

Social Committee will meet at 3:20 on Thursday. Come with ideas for Prom and finish decorations for the winter formal dance coming up in February!

All participants in the middle school spelling bee: the spelling bee will be held on FRIDAY the 11th (this Friday) during 1st and possibly 2nd hour in the theater. Please report to your 1st hour class and quickly move to the theater. If you plan to participate, let Mrs. Brady know ASAP. Thank you

There will be a yearbook meeting on Thursday, January 10, at 3:20, to assign pages for completion. This will be in room 207. 

Archery and Bowyery – We will not meet this week.  

Welcome Back Titans! Starting Wednesday the 9th, Environmental Club will be collected plastic bags and you will be earning house points for each bag your house collects. However, there is a small catch. Plastic Bags will be collected by one house per day. On Wednesday- Coeus will be collecting bags, Thursday- Crius and Friday Cronus. 

More houses will be announced for next week. Don’t worry if you can’t bring them in for your designated house day, house days will be repeated! Any questions please see Mrs. Caporali.

Volunteers Needed: Feed My Starving Children – Sept. 28th

The Archway PSO has invited the CPA  Chandler community to serve together at Feed My Starving Children on our HALF DAY FRIDAY, September 28th. This non-profit group brings in volunteers to pack bags of food to starving children around the world. Registration is required to participate, we have 133 slots, please click the following link or use the join code 1499964:

Feed My Starving Children – Sept 28th 1:30-3:30pm. This is not a drop-off event. All children must be accompanied by adults. The following ratios are strictly followed.

Grades K-2: 1 student to 1 adult

Grades 3-6: 3 students to 1 adult

Grades 7-9: 4 students to 1 adult

Grades 10-12: 5 students to 1 adult

What is Stoa? STOA (‘Stow-ah’ in ancient Greek architecture, describes an area for public usage which created a safe, protective atmosphere. For Chandler Prep, it is an informal gathering time offered by the PSO where new and returning Chandler Prep parents and guardians can ask questions, learn about upcoming events, and meet others in the Chandler Prep community. Come on Friday, August 10th at 2:30 pm in the library for the first meeting!

Back to School Pool Party on Saturday, Aug. 4 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm

Don’t miss the Chandler Prep Back to School Pool Party on Saturday, Aug. 4 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Desert Oasis Aquatic Center (1400 W. Summit Pl., between Dobson and Alma School). Join the CPA community as we meet during open swim time at the pool. Look for the red table cloths for our “area!” Cost: $1(ages 2-17), $2.25 (ages 18-54).  Lifeguards on duty, no additional supervision provided. No RSVP, just pay at the door.

After you have finished swimming, head over to Jamba Juice (NE corner of Alma School and Warner) for a sweet treat. Mention CPA and 20% will go right back to our school! This offer is good all day Saturday, Aug. 4, from 7am-8pm! Don’t forget to mention CPA.
