HIGH SCHOOL ONLY

Women’s HS Soccer pre-season meeting during lunch this Thursday, Room 310.

IF YOU ALREADY KNOW HOW TO BOX BRAID and would be willing to teach middle school students how to do this next Monday, Sept. 23, in the cafeteria from 3:30 to 4:30, your help would be greatly appreciated. Community service hours can be earned for helping with this fun doggo project!

Dear Seniors: If you would like a senior quote to accompany your senior photo, please submit using the attached link no later than Monday, September 30. Your quote must be no more than 15 words, be from a curricular text, and will need to be approved prior to being added to the yearbook.  All quotes must be school appropriate. If no quote is received, no quote will be with your photo. Because we have deadlines for yearbook page submissions, your quote must be received on time. If you have questions, please ask Mrs. Ferrell, yearbook advisor, or Mr. Haley. A link to submit was sent via newsletter from Mrs. Davies and quotes must be submitted via the link.

Senior Trip 2021 Meeting – September 26th: Current Juniors – Chandler Prep will host its first informational evening in the theater on Thursday, September 26th at 6pm to discuss Chandler Prep’s annual trip to Washington D.C. Parents of current Juniors are strongly encouraged to come and learn about the Senior trip!  Any questions, please contact Ms. Kurus

9th, 10th & 11th GRADERS: Your All About Me essay is due FRIDAY, Sept. 20.  Please type your essay (Word or GoogleDoc, etc.), include your name and grade, print the essay and attach it to the yellow All About Me form.  Write your name and grade on the yellow form too. Archery and Bowyery: We will meet after school tomorrow.  We will gather in the Forum and then go outside. We will work with paint and wax, so you can change your clothes.   If you have not turned in your form, you will have to wait until Monday to participate.

HURRICANE DORIAN RELIEF DRIVE EXTENDED THROUGH THIS WEEK…we are only 50 tubes short of our goal of 200 tubes!!  Currently, Cronus is in first place with house points, followed by Mnemosyne and then Rhea. Please put a house label on your box or boxes of ointment (located near the bins). If every student brought in just one tube (and many have brought in several), think of the good we could do for people suffering so far away!

SENIORS only: Senior Thesis seminars end this week. The Tuesday seminar meets today, and the Thursday seminar will meet in two days. Complete the reading and bring your questions from the text to your last seminar. By this last seminar, you should know what topic from the text you’ll be exploring for your Senior Thesis, as well as the text(s) from the CPA curriculum you will use.

UNLOCK CLUB MEETS TOMORROW, Wednesday, morning at 7:50 am in the cafeteria. Sixth, seventh, and eighth graders can join at any time. We will talk about next Monday’s dog toy workshop and next Friday’s Feed My Starving Children packing session. Students are expected to be present in their classrooms and ready to begin class work prior to the late bell. A reminder about 1st hour tardies, from The Family Handbook: “The school disapproves of the accumulation of unexcused late arrivals to school, irrespective of the circumstances. Persistent first-period tardiness is highly disruptive of instruction and undermines student morale. On the third occasion (fourth for Middle School) that a student has an unexcused first-period tardy in a quarter, a detention will be issued to the student by the first–period teacher. For each subsequent unexcused first period tardy in the quarter, another detention will be issued. When a student has received four detentions for tardiness in a quarter, then he or she may receive an in-school suspension for a duration determined by the administration.

(We collected 100 tubes last week.)  Currently, Mnemosyne is ahead in house points, followed by Rhea and then Crius. If you did not have time to donate last week, WE WOULD LOVE TO HAVE EVERY STUDENT BRING ONE TUBE OF ANTIBIOTIC OINTMENT THIS WEEK.

TODAY IS THE LAST DAY TO REGISTER ONLINE FOR FEED MY STARVING CHILDREN ON FRIDAY, SEPT. 27, 6:00 to 8:00 PM. This FMSC PACKING SESSION is for ALL Chandler Prep students, families, friends, neighbors, and faculty. Sign up online at fmsc.org under Chandler Prep or Mary Goodwin. An estimated 18,000 children in the Bahamas are in immediate need of food following the hurricane. Feed My Starving Children is one many relief organizations sending aid now.

HIGH SCHOOL AND MIDDLE SCHOOL

Due to the low turnout for the high school donut eating contest, it has been cancelled. But, a second middle school contest will be run due to the high number of sign ups! All high school students who signed up will receive house points (Go Tethys, Mnemosyne and Coeus). 

Middle school students sign up in pen between 2nd and 3rd period to be entered for the second contest. Once again, the same rules as yesterday apply. You must sign up for your house if you plan on eating donuts but your chopstick holding partner does not need to be in your house. 

UNLOCK AND KEY CLUBS ARE SPONSORING A SCHOOLWIDE DRIVE FOR PEOPLE SUFFERING IN THE BAHAMAS following the devastation of Hurricane Dorian. Beginning TODAY, Tuesday, and running through Friday, there will be small containers in the forum for donations of over-the-counter tubes of antibiotic ointment (such as Neosporin and Bacitracin). Depending on the size and brand, tubes run anywhere from $2.00 to $7.00 and are available at grocery stores, Target, Walmart, drug stores, and Amazon. OUR GOAL IS 200 tubes!! Since it is Spirit Week, everyone who donates will also be awarded ten points for his/her house. See Mrs. Goodwin with any questions.

Sign up for the donut eating contest will be hung up on the moving bulletin board in the forum today. This year’s contest will run slightly different than last year. Each team will consist of two people: one member who eats donuts and one member who holds chopsticks and feeds the other member donuts. The person eating the donuts must be in the house that they sign up for, however the person that uses the chopsticks can be from any house.  Please make sure when you sign up that you sign up for the house of the person that is eating the donuts. First team to eat 20 donut holes will win! Only one team from each house in each school will be allowed to participate so be sure to sign up promptly! Please be sure to sign your name in pen so no one can erase your name.
