Members of the Theia House – Congratulations on bringing in the most Plus 1 Tax Credits during our Tax Credit drive! To celebrate your efforts, you will receive Culver’s frozen custard next Tuesday immediately after school. Please stop by the ramada to grab your treat. (There will be a roster, so only members of Theia should come to get the Culver’s. Seriously, don’t try otherwise. Also, you are responsible for getting all of your trash into trash cans when you’re done.) Questions? Ask Mrs. Swanson.

YAY, TITANS!! Together we reached our goal of sponsoring THREE HERO RATS. Watch the bulletin board outside the Life Science room next year for photos and updates about the work of these incredible animals. The competition between high school and middle school was the closest ever, with middle school students keeping their lead by only a few dollars.  MANY THANKS TO ALL WHO DONATED! Mrs. Goodwin will be giving out Jamba Juice or Dutch Bros gift cards to the winners of the raffle today. For more information about Hero Rats, go to www.apopo.org.

OUR BELOVED LIFE SCIENCE PETS are looking for good homes over the summer months. If you are interested (and your parents are willing), please come speak to Mrs. Goodwin. Thor, our bearded dragon, is already spoken for.

Attention all High School students:  Community Service hours were due last Friday. If there are issues with your hours, Mr. Paap will be available after school on Tuesday and Wednesday this week in the library (if possible) to FIX any issues you have with hours ALREADY submitted. All hours submitted after last Friday may not be applied until next year.

Next year’s Sophomores through Seniors: if you love to sing, we have some openings for Sopranos, Altos, Tenors, and Basses in our Schola Select Choir Ensemble. Our rehearsals meet Thursdays at 7:15 a.m. The auditions for this will be held on either Friday May 17 or Monday May 20. MIDDLE SCHOOL

8th graders. You can buy your ticket to the 8th grade dance on Wed. or Thurs. at lunch! Bring $15 cash or check to the PSO. Or you can still pay online.

For current 7th -11th grade:  Please join us after school on Thursday, May 16, if you are interested in designing the yearbook next year!  While distribution for this year’s book will be this week, we are already planning for next year’s book.  Come see what’s involved in creating the book of memories for your time here at CPA.  Please meet in room 209.

HERO RATS provide jobs and a sense of pride among people in impoverished developing countries. Instead of needing to rely on foreign aid, these people can now be part of the solution themselves by training and working alongside these amazing HERO RATS. For every dollar you donate this week, you can write your name on a slip of paper and enter the raffle for a Dutch Bros or Jamba Juice gift card. Thank you to all who have given so far, but we are still short of the $94 needed to sponsor even one rat for a year. Please consider giving this week!

PLEASE BE CAREFUL NOT TO SPILL FOOD AND DRINKS on our beautiful new bench on the ramada! The material this bench is constructed of is very expensive, and drinks, ketchup, taco sauce, etc. will permanently stain it. Please keep it clean and remind your friends and classmates, too. Thank you!

Answers to questions about our tardy policy, from The Family Handbook: The Arizona Department of Education defines “…an excused absence as being an absence due to illness, doctor appointment, bereavement, family emergencies, and out-of-school suspensions.” All other cases of absence, whether reported by the parent or not, shall be considered unexcused (this includes traffic delays and delays due to car accidents you’re not involved in). Students are expected to be seated in their classrooms ready to begin class work prior to the late bell. A tardy is defined as “not being in an assigned seat when the late bell rings– (Finish Strong Titans! You have only 7 school days left until summer break!)

Textbook return begins Tuesday, May 21st. Please collect your textbooks, and have them ready to turn in, to avoid a costly replacement fee. Thank you.

It is FINISHED! The CPA Ramada Mural is complete. Be sure to head out there and enjoy it before the heat sets in! Thanks to all those who contributed: Hailey, Lauren, Aby, Alyssa, Maria, Liberty, Hadis, Calen, Mia, Grace, Emma, Kidron and Gemma. CPA will be forever thankful for your commitment to making our school as beautiful as it can be! If you did not have an opportunity to sign the work, please see Ms. Summa and we will remedy. Drive slowly in the school parking lot and in the carpool loop. Do not use your cellphone while driving. Keep your attention on where you are going and make eye contact with other drivers and pedestrians.

OVER 6,000 PEOPLE WORLDWIDE STEP ON A LANDMINE each year and are killed or maimed. HERO RATS can clear a tennis court-sized field in only 20 minutes!!  Donate all this week in the cafeteria, so CPA can sponsor more rats to save more lives in developing countries! OUR RAMADA IS LOOKING BEAUTIFUL with the completed mural by the Art Club, the succulent planters from the PSO, and now, the wonderful bench and added seating around the tree built by Mr. Brown. PLEASE BE CAREFUL NOT TO SPILL FOOD AND DRINKS on this bench! The material this bench is constructed of is very expensive, and drinks, ketchup, taco sauce, etc. will permanently stain it. Please keep it clean and remind your friends and classmates, too. Thank you!

Textbook return begins Tuesday, May 21st. Please collect all your textbooks, and have them ready to turn in, to avoid a costly replacement fee. Thank you.

Students are expected to be seated in their classrooms ready to begin class work prior to the late bell. A tardy is defined as “not being in an assigned seat when the late bell rings”. From The Family Handbook: “The school disapproves of the accumulation of unexcused late arrivals to school, irrespective of the circumstances. Persistent first-period tardiness is highly disruptive of instruction and undermines student morale. On the third occasion for high school (fourth for middle school) that a student has an unexcused first-period tardy in a quarter, a detention will be issued to the student by the first–period teacher. For each subsequent unexcused first period tardy in the quarter, another detention will be issued. When a student has received four detentions for tardiness in a quarter, then he or she may receive an in-school suspension for a duration determined by the administration.” – (Finish Strong Titans! You have only 9 school days left to go!) A
