Eighth Grade Commencement
May 27th, 2021 @ 6pm
Eighth grade students should arrive at the school theater by 5:15 PM on May 27, 2021, to prepare for the ceremony. The Eighth Grade Commencement will take place at 6:00 PM in the Chandler Prep gym. Additional parking will be available in the lots across the street from the school. Each student will receive two tickets for the event this year due to space limitations.
Each 8th grade student is permitted to invite two guests to the ceremony. Students will receive two tickets that will be used by the invited guests to be admitted to the gym on the evening of the event. As there are capacity and space limitations in the gym the two guest per student policy will be closely enforced.
The students will be wearing black gowns for the ceremony. Gowns will be passed out at school just prior to commencement and will be collected immediately after the ceremony. Students should wear semi-formal attire (see below) under their gowns. This attire can then be worn directly to the social/dance.
Semi-formal dress is required of students, as specified in the Family Handbook:
The semi-formal dress code for boys is as follows: dress slacks (no jeans or patched pocket pants), a collared dress shirt, dark socks, dress shoes (no sneakers or sandals). For commencement, graduating 8th graders must wear a tie. No dyed hair or hats. Hair should be trimmed appropriately.
The semi-formal dress code for girls is as follows: modest-length skirts or dresses (no shorter than the uniform skirt–this means a dress or skirt should come to the top of the knee or longer), or appropriately fitting dress slacks; bare midriffs are not acceptable. Modestly-cut sleeveless tops/dresses are allowed; ladies may not wear strapless, spaghetti-strap, or tank tops. Girls should wear dress shoes. No flip-flops. No dyed hair.
Eighth Grade Celebration – Welcome to High School Party and Dance
May 27th, 2021 @ 7-9pm
The “Masquerade 2021” Social and Dance will begin at 7:00 PM and conclude at 9:00 PM. The attire is semi-formal, as outlined above. This will be a chance for the class of 2025 to join together in celebration on their last day as Middle School students. This is not a ticketed event, and admission is free. It is open only to current CPA 8th grade students. The event will be organized and chaperoned by the combined efforts of class parents and CPA teachers. If you would like to contribute time or send in donations to this event, please volunteer on the Sign-Up Genius list below. Any inquiries about the 8th grade Social and Dance should be directed to Mrs. Stephens at email@example.com or Mrs. Smith on the class Facebook page. The event will take place in the CPA Cafeteria and Ramada, and students will come directly to the Social after dropping off their Commencement gowns in the Theater. For their safety, students will not be allowed to come and go. The students will not have a meal provided, so they should plan to have dinner before the Commencement. We will serve pre-packaged snacks, soda, and water and there will be a DJ, photo booth, yard games, and fantastic decorations. Let’s send our 8th graders off to High School with one more unforgettable evening together!
